How Testicular Cancer Spreads

The way a cancer tends to go if it spreads beyond the site of the original tumor is called its pathophysiology.

Both seminomas and nonseminomas tend to spread to lymph nodes in the back part of the abdomen. This area is called the retroperitoneum. Seminomas tend to spread later. Nonseminomas tend to spread earlier and more often. Nonseminomas may spread to the lungs. In rare cases, they can spread to the liver and brain.

Even when testicular cancers spread, your chance for cure is still very high. This is not true with many other types of cancer.
